Maybe you've heard me mention Ponty. Maybe not. But seeing as he's going to be keeping me company for quite some time, I thought you might like to get to know him a little better.

Ponty is my little munted mascot that I made for myself. He came about because I needed to make a gift for my niece. She has the original Ponty.

The original Ponty that lives with my niece.

Ponty is derived from Pontius by Saraphir.

I found the pattern on Ravelry here
Instructions for the original pattern here.

However, you'll notice it's a bit different to what my niece got. I can't crochet so the eyes are buttons and my teeth are a bit smaller and reminiscent of the minions from Despicable Me 2. Somewhat assisted by the fro I gave him in lieu of arms. I have embargoed sock making so he's lucky he got feet!

A close friend of mine moved to Canada and she made admirable noises so I made her one as a gift. I sent him over with friends who were visiting and they took him on a bit of an adventure. He's pocket sized so he's easy to carry around.

But I liked him so much that I wanted to have one of my own. As one does, I have all these odds and ends that are leftover from projects and I made two bodies to see which colour I liked for me.
He doesn't take that long to knit up, it's the stitching that takes more time and concentration. And remembering to stitch the eyes and teeth BEFORE sewing up his sides!

I picked the teal one, no surprises there.

Ponty is my trusty sidekick, and the safest place for him is my pocket so that he can't inadvertently fall out - I wear skinny jeans so he's tucked in real good! He's going to come with me on tour so will probably spend a lot of time on my dashboard and putting up with my terrible singing.

With only three Ponties in the world, it basically makes him an endangered species so I'm working on some more family for him.
